Simon Thoumire is a magician on one of the smallest and, some would say, most limited instruments in the world. He is a concertina player, and in his hands this instrument becomes the most extraordinary and virtuosic musical communicator. David Milligan is a pianist whose musical imagination flows freely between jazz improvisation and the traditional airs and dance metres of his native Scotland. Individually, they’re two of the finest exponents of the contemporary Scottish music scene. Together, they’re the most engaging and amusing partnership you could hope to hear, combining intense performances with ‘laugh-out-loud’ banter, their collaboration fuses the two worlds of folk and jazz. Expect to hear contemporary and traditional music-making, taking in reels, jigs, slow airs and sundry other tunes.
