We had a lovely time over the Easter period. I went to see a fantastic gig by Heidi Talbot, John McCusker and Ian Carr in Milngavie Folk Club and then afterwards Ian returned home with me to spend Easter with my family. We did lots of playing including this #makegoodart piece. The piece maps out our day which started with us all going to church and then playing tunes in the garden to my wives family.
It consists of an Easter hymn called ‘Crown Him With Many Crowns’ – written by Matthew Bridges (1800-1894)in 1851. I heard it last week in church and wrote it down to play as it is beautiful! We follow this with a new march of mine. It’s called Ross Ainslie’s March which was written at the same time as last weeks #makegoodartpiece Music of the Sea (Handsupfortrad – Music-of-the-sea-makegoodart). Both are based on two notes – E & B which were part of a BBC Radio 4 instrument on another#makegoodart piece ‘Trio’.
Anyway it’s been good fun to play with Ian as he is one of the best guitarists in the world.
