I was down in Ayr yesterday doing a chat about music and entrepreneurism to the students of the Commercial Music Course at the University of the West of Scotland. It was really interesting to chat to guys and listen to their views on the current scene.
There was chat on “do you need to be an entrepreneur to be successful in music” and also a presentation on “whether bands need a record label (or should they go it alone)” which through up some interesting ideas. I talked about the need to love what your doing more than anything in order to make it in the entrepreneurial business as you need desire in order to keep you going through difficult (and fun) times.
Anyway thanks to the university for inviting me. I was escorted to the theatre by Chris Beltran who it turned out played with the up and coming band Fatherson. Check them out they’re fantastic! http://www.fathersonband.co.uk/
